1. Introduction

Stips is a play-money prediction market made by Barsky Design. This policy explains what the app collects, why it collects it, and what it deliberately does not collect. It covers everything served at stips.bet.

Using Stips means accepting this policy. If anything here does not match what the app actually does, that is a bug worth reporting — the address is at the bottom of this page.

2. What Stips collects

2.1 What you provide directly

• Account details: your email address, a username and a password. Authentication is handled by Supabase, which stores passwords hashed — Stips never sees or keeps a readable copy.
• Profile details: display name and avatar.
• What you create: the markets you write, the positions you take and any comments you post.
• Email addresses you enter to invite someone to a market or a club.
• Your email address, if you add it to the waitlist for real-money betting — a feature that does not exist and is not enabled.

2.2 What is collected automatically

• Log data: IP address, browser and operating system, and the time of each request.
• Usage data: the actions you take in the app, such as opening a market or placing a trade.
• Device data: device type and mobile identifiers.
• Cookies and similar browser storage — see section 6.

3. What Stips does not collect

No payment details of any kind. Stips takes no deposits, pays out no money, and has no card, bank or crypto payment path anywhere in the product — so there is nothing to collect. Credits are play money: they are granted, not bought, and cannot be converted into currency.

No government ID and no identity verification. There is no KYC step, because there is no money to verify anyone against. If real-money betting were ever built it would need its own policy and its own consent, and this one would be replaced rather than quietly stretched to cover it.

No location tracking beyond the country-level inference any web server makes from an IP address, and no biometric data.

4. How your information is used

Your information is used to:

• Run the service, including recording the positions you take and settling them
• Sign you in and keep your account yours
• Send the notifications, emails and invitations you asked for
• Prevent cheating, abuse and unauthorised access
• Understand which parts of the app are used, and improve them
• Enforce this policy and the Terms of Service, and meet legal obligations

Stips shows no advertising and sells no personal information to anyone.

5. Sharing and disclosure

Your information reaches third parties only in these cases:

• Service providers that run the app: Supabase for the database and authentication, Netlify for hosting and delivery, and Google Analytics for usage measurement.
• With your consent, such as when you invite someone by email.
• Legal requests, where the law requires disclosure.
• A business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition.
• Aggregated or anonymised data that cannot reasonably identify you.

6. Cookies and tracking

Stips uses cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and measure usage. Your bet slip is kept in your own browser rather than on a server. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them will sign you out and may break parts of the app.

7. Data retention

Information is kept for as long as it is needed to run the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce policies. You can ask for your account to be deleted; some records are anonymised and retained where they are needed for audit or abuse prevention.

8. Security

Access to data is controlled at the database level, every table has row-level security policies, and traffic is encrypted in transit. No system is perfect, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed — but there are no payment credentials here to lose, which removes the most damaging category of breach entirely.

9. International transfers

Data may be stored and processed in countries other than the one you live in, because the hosting and database providers named above operate internationally. Appropriate safeguards are applied where they are required.

10. Children

Stips is not intended for anyone under 18 and does not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a child has created an account, write in and it will be deleted.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data. Email the address below to exercise any of them.

12. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated. Material changes will be announced in the app, and the date at the top of this page records when the wording last changed — it is set by hand when the words change, not by the last deploy.
